In Minnesota Lakers (lake trout) are a rare find, inhabiting only around 100 lakes in the state and they receive careful protection. Mukooda Lake is one of the few lakes where you will be able to catch a laker. Other species such as walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and crappie are also present in the lake. Many of which were documented in the initial fisheries assessment of 1969. However, in recent years, additional species including bluegill, green sunfish, black bullhead, and burbot have made their way into Mukooda Lake, raising concerns about potential competition with the native lake trout population. Don’t miss out on the chance to make memories and reel in one of these rare treasures!
